Hi everyone.

My name is Paul Gardner and I’m the chair of the JCMA Membership Committee.

Perhaps you are already a financial member of JCMA, in which case, thank you for your support. You don’t have to read the rest of this post, but if you’re a really enthusiastic supporter of JCMA, feel free to forward this appeal to friends, family and people you know in your faith community who might be interested in supporting interfaith work.

The Jewish Tishrei festivals

The Hebrew month of Tishrei is the busiest time of the year in the Jewish calendar, containing 5 major festivals. It falls around September/October each year. The first day of Tishrei starts the Jewish New Year (Rosh HaShanah), and also starts the ‘Ten Days of Penitence’ which culminates with Yom Kippur, a twenty-five hour complete fast, most of which is traditionally spent in prayer in synagogue.

JCMA Statement on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11

PRESS RELEASE

On this tenth anniversary of the deplorable attacks on September 11, 2001, the Jewish Christian Muslim Association of Australia remembers and mourns the loss of innocent life and condemns the use of religion to justify these attacks as legitimate acts. We are mindful of the thousands of people who have lost loved ones and recognise that this time may evoke painful memories. We also mourn the loss of life in the wars and violence which followed from the September 11 attack.
